We are so excited to have you here. Hopefully you will enjoy our sometimes mild(extreme) sarcasm, expressive rants, or at least determine that you can tolerate our particular style of crazy. Because we would love to have you stick around.
On our blog we will share with you our efforts at making our home safe, happy, and nurturing at, “Where The Roosters Crow”. Our family passion of traveling, everywhere we can manage to make it at, “Always On The Road Again”. And our podcast “Can You Relate?!”, where we will try to relate to each others favorite pop culture topics.
This little blog of ours is going to be shared with you as a dialogue between Emma and I. So if you are wondering why we keep changing the font color that is to differentiate who is speaking. Robin will always be writing in Blue and Emma will be in Orange.
Our blog may just now be public to the world but it has been in our hearts and minds for a long time. We first started talking about it when Emma was in 1st grade.
Emma was and is one of the most articulate people I have ever known. From an early age she could formulate and comprehend big ideas. She is very smart and even though I know I’m her Mom and probably have a lot of bias, I know I am right.
But the problem was, doing homework with her was a constant battle and she was really struggling in school. Finally after it was suggested that she repeat 1st grade and our bickering over homework was making our entire household a little nuts. Dad pushed Mom into getting a diagnosis and I am so glad he did.
I had feared that getting a diagnosis would stereotype Emma with her peers or that she herself might use it as an excuse. As I should have realized my determined little girl worked through it all.
As we had suspected, after being tested she was diagnosed with…….
*Drumroll please* Dyslexia
Sorry Mom but that sure seemed to have a lot of build up.
Touché.
Ok back to where I was, you might be asking what does any of this have to do with Me and My Best Girl. Well as I mentioned above Emma always had big ideas and we had in depth conversations. I always knew she had this amazing voice and I felt from an early age that she should share it with the world.
We came up with the name for this blog all the way back then and Mom bought and retained the URL all these years. Because even though Emma was busy learning to read and growing up. And I was busy trying to mother and start a business we continued to dream about our little blog from time to time.
Now here we are many years later ready to get started. And now my amazing 16 year old daughter is the primary driving force.
We are both ready to share our voices here with you.
So as I mentioned above our blog will be a mother/daughter dialogue. And as Emma in her ever illuminating manner likes to say, we are kinda like the “Gilmore Girls” with realistic waistlines.
